Autopoesis

Autopoesis is a word of the new aeon. A Hypertext of Spirit. While physical and biological entities can attain self-producing and self-organizing states resisting entropy called autopoiesis, only humans can “write” the self into existence with a will to power, co-creating with the gods, as Friedrich Nietzsche claimed was the only option for humanity to avoid nihilism and evolve into superhuman states.

This process was further delineated by Aleister Crowley in his own magickal method of crossing the abyss into spiritual awakening and love under will. Yet we must not only channel the gods but become them through the refinement of our singularity as self in our magnum opus. Carl Jung’s own madness took him beyond psychoanalysis to modern man’s search for a soul, and yet his Red Book remained hidden in his lifetime, just as Crowley only reluctantly published the Book of the Law.

In the beginning was the word… And that remained with the magical acts of poesis that the ancient Greek Presocratics and Chinese Taoists imbued in their sacred writing which was at once a thought and an act. Yet after millennia the madness of reason cracked and broke. From Antonin Artaud’s call to have done with the judgement of God to George Bataille’s generic sovereignty, modernity remains an unfinished project.

Autopoesis is a journey from imposed speech to inspired writing. A psychoanalytic cure and a magickal record. Channeled out of the ashes of crisis, assembled into a multiplicity of styles, and finally wrangled into a treatise. Four books, ten chapters, six hundred and seventy-four pages: giving birth to a text, a method, and a prophecy: “Autopoesis.”
